What is Marriage Matters?

The Indiana Family Institute is dedicated to making Indiana the best place to be married and raise a family. In order to do so we will continue to influence public policy within Indiana. However, no law can change people's hearts. Marriage Matters is our initiative to strengthen marriages, one heart at a time. This happens when leaders within the community come together to raise the standard for marriage by establishing a united commitment to prepare couples for marriage, strengthen and enrich existing marriages, and counsel hurting marriages. At IFI we believe that the heart of a strong family is a healthy marriage. Thus, we are determined to work with community leaders to help pre-married and married couples understand time-tested truths that will make their marriages last a lifetime.

How does the Indiana Family Institute plan to execute this vision?

The Community Marriage Approach

Communities across Indiana already have the tools necessary to change from places where divorce and broken families are the norm to environments where healthy marriages and families can flourish.  However, a common vision is needed to help integrate and utilize the resources within the community in such a way as to give married couples the best chance at success. Our community marriage approach is dependant upon an individual (or individuals) in a given community who has a passion for marriage to become the catalyst in that community for marriage. Through the energy of this “Community Catalyst” IFI can convene, cast vision and direct community leaders though our “6 month quick-start program” to start making a difference in the lives of couples in a given community.
