The Robert’s Court – Beginning of a new era?

Today the U.S. Supreme Court, led by native Hoosier John Roberts, proved the wisdom of President Bush placing Roberts and Alito onto the Court.  Of particular interest was Hein v. Freedom From Religion Foundation.  As you have guessed, the Freedom From Religion Foundation is no friend to Conservatives or Christians.  In this case the Robert’s Court pulls Justice Kennedy to the light, giving Conservatives a 5-4 win and allowing the executive branch to work with faith-based organizations when providing government services.

It’s amazing that this case and others like it even get heard.  It’s not like faith-based organizations are getting paid by the government to proselytize.  Many times faith-based groups can do a better job than government or secular organizations at providing certain services.  The government would be foolish not to work with such groups.  It’s blatantly unconstitutional for the government to discriminate against faith-based organizations.  Unfortunately, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and like-minded groups want to push people of faith completely out of the public square.  Someone should remind them to do to us as they would want us to do to them…oh that’s right, they don’t believe in all that mumbo jumbo.

It really appears the "gravitas" of the big four -- Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia -- are pulling Kennedy our way. Bravo for Hoosier John Roberts. Bravo for Hoosier Dan Coats who helped Alito win confirmation after the Harriett Miers debacle.

Double-bravo to Dan Coats. Alito is a much better nominee than Harriet Miers anyway!
